The British Insurance Car Security Awards
The annual British Insurance Car Security Awards (BICSA) are presented to winners of various categories from city cars/superminis right through to luxury models, so there's something here for every type of motorist. Motorists can be confident that all cars that qualified for consideration of an award offer good levels of security. Full details of this and previous years' awards, together with the New Vehicle Security Ratings (NVSR) scheme on which they are based, can be found at www.thatcham.org.

When referring to the awards listings, motorists will need to be aware that:
some of the variants in a model range did not satisfy the selection criteria. In some cases only one variant in a range was eligible for an award, so do be particularly careful when deciding which car to buy;
only those cars available at the end of April 2006 were considered for an award. It is possible that since then the model has been superseded by one with a different security specification;
some winners or candidates from previous years may still be in production but were not considered for an award in subsequent years because manufacturers introduced lower specifications so be particularly careful of the year of production.
The British Insurance Car Security Awards are organised by the insurance industry as represented by the Association of British Insurers, Lloyd's Market Association and Thatcham, and are endorsed by the Home Office, Department for Transport, AA Motoring Trust, Advanced Automotive Glazing Manufacturers Association and other organisations interested in improving car security.
