Social Services
Social services have a statutory responsibility to
provide support for cases involving children. The provision of
services for children in need is dealt with in s.17 of the Children
Act 1989 and the provision of accommodation for children in s.20. The
Local Authority’s duty to
make enquiries where there are child protection
concerns is dealt with in s.47.
Trafficked children must always be dealt with within
mainstream child
care policies and procedures,
including child
protection where necessary but in addition they may
require specialist accommodation and casework by skilled specialist
staff.
