Wildlife Crime
Police forces now have nominated Wildlife Liaison Officers who
have established a network to discuss issues and share ideas and
organise an annual conference to promote good practice. The police
and HM Customs & Excise work closely with the D E T R in the
investigation and prosecution of wildlife crime.
The DETR co-chairs and provides a secretariat for the Partnership
for Action Against Wildlife Crime (PAW), a
multi-agency body which looks at strategic enforcement issues. The
DETR has published a guide to Wildlife Law Enforcement available on
their website.
