Concerns about crime in 2000

Those living in rural areas are more optimistic about crime trends in their local area than those living in non-rural areas. However, in relation to national crime trends, views are similar in rural and non-rural areas. Respondents were asked how they thought the crime rate had changed since 2 years ago in their local area and at the national level.
