In the toolkit, we briefly touched on some of the factors
that may cause people to be particularly fearful of crime.
This included issues such as:
- They live in an area or situation of high crime
- They have already been a victim of crime
- They are poorly informed
- They feel vulnerable
- They are isolated
The toolkit covered some of the things that can be done
to help people to tackle these issues. In this, the
strategies for the vulnerable, we want to tackle more specifically
at why people feel vulnerable. We want to identify those
groups where this could be a particular problem in relation
to the fear of crime, and then examine what practitioners
across the country are doing to work with and for these
groups to help reduce their fear of crime.
What may make people feel
vulnerable?
