National Context: Measuring Performance

Currently, there are no Key Performance Indicators for fire brigades in respect of arson. There is, however, a Service Delivery Agreement (SDA) target :

‘To achieve a reduction of 30% in the number of deliberate fires by 31 March 2009 from the 1998/99 baseline (78,500 deliberate fires)’.

The first milestone is to arrest the upward trend in deliberate fires so that the number of cases returns to the baseline by 31 March 2004.
