Crime Reduction - Helping to Reduce Crime in Your Area

FUNDING FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT REFERRAL CENTRES

General information

Funding is available from central government to support the development of new Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) and to support existing ones.

SARCs provide a considerable amount of benefit in terms of victim care. The Government is committed to ensuring that SARCs are available to all victims of sexual violence in England and Wales by 2011.

For new SARCs

Applications are invited for grants to support the development of new SARCs.  Grants will only be made to meet the one-off costs involved in setting up the SARC.

We strongly recommend that applications are submitted jointly by police forces, Primary Care Trusts (PCT(s), and any local sexual violence voluntary sector organisations.  Applications should also be supported by the local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP). Please note that references to Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in the guidance notes and application forms should be read as references to Local Health Boards for applicants in Wales.

For existing SARCs

Applications for grants will also be invited for existing SARCs.
