Domestic Violence: A Definition
Domestic violence is not a specific statutory offence. The term is used to describe a range of criminal offences - and sometimes sub-criminal behaviour – occurring in particular circumstances. There are therefore many different definitions.

Home Office Minister, Charles Clarke has announced that victims of rape and other sexual offences will be spared cross-examination in court on their previous sexual history unless it is absolutely relevant to the case.

DfEE Anti-Bullying Strategy
On 13 December 2000 David Blunkett, Education and Employment Secretary, renewed the Government’s drive to tackle the scourge of bullying in schools by launching a pack for schools to encourage teachers and parents to take bullying seriously and tell pupils not to suffer in silence. The pack also stresses the importance of taking parents seriously when they say their children are being bullied.

Victims Virtual Walkthrough
For victims of crime, the process of reporting it can be seen as a complex and daunting experience. To help put victims minds at ease, cjsonline have developed a 'Victims Virtual Walkthrough' in conjunction with the Home Office, ACPO, The Crown Prosecution Service, The Court Service and Victim Support.
Virtual Prisons Tour
Members of the public are now able to take virtual tours of prisons at the click of a button. 'Prisons Online' takes the viewer on a journey from arrival in prison, through daily life and right up to release. Lack of contact with family members is established as a factor leading to repeat offending - as is the homelessness associated with being cut off from family ties on leaving prison.
Reducing alcohol-related violence and disorder: an evaluation of the 'TASC' project
The TASC project has been operating in the Cardiff area since July 2000. The detailed evaluation of the initiative looks at the implementations of the scheme, and local data mapping. It examines costs and cost-effectiveness, before drawing conclusions on the success of the project and giving examples of key good practice.
Implementing Business Watch: problems and solutions
The Australian Institute of Criminology has published this paper as part of a project investigating crimes against small businesses, funded by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department's National Crime Prevention Program. A survey of Business Watch participants and others within the scheme area shows a severe lack of awareness about the program which in turn results in low levels of participation.
Reporting of crime against small retail businesses
The Australian Institute of Criminology has published this paper as part of a project investigating crimes against small businesses, funded by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department's National Crime Prevention Program. Data from the Small Business Crime Survey shows under-reporting of some crimes by small retail businesses.
