Partnerships
Partnership Support Programme
Introduction
The Home Office is funding Crime Concern and NACRO to deliver a programme of consultancy and support services for local crime and disorder partnerships. The objective is to help partnerships improve their performance on reducing crime through a programme of practical help and guidance on tackling some of the problem issues they are facing. The programme is mainly aimed at helping partnerships reduce crime in high crime locations. Among the problem issues covered are:
target setting, monitoring and evaluation
resources, human and financial
implementation of Section 17
engagement of partners, eg health authorities
role of elected members
‘county v district’ issues
data sharing protocols
Key elements
The programme comprises three main elements:
Advice, training and consultancy to individual partnerships. Crime Concern/NACRO carry out an initial ‘health check’ of the partnership and its strategy. The partnership is then offered a further period of consultancy to address identified problems.
Seminars and workshops on particular themes. A series of events is taking place around the country, focussing on the sort of problems outlined above but also drawing on developing experience within partnerships and emerging research. The events are interactive, allowing partnerships to raise and explore issues in more depth.
Strengthening the practitioner network. Regional networks are being developed to facilitate partnerships to exchange ideas and discuss problems. Some twinning arrangements are also being looked at.
