The British Vehicle Salvage Federation represents over 85% of the vehicle salvage business in the UK. It currently has 97 members.

The Vehicle Crime Reduction Team within the Home Office is responsible for managing the Government target to reduce vehicle crime by 30% by 2004. The team is the secretariat for the Vehicle Crime Reduction Action Team (VCRAT) which produced a 5 year strategy in September 1999, recommending initiatives to deliver this target. The Vehicle Crime Reduction Team works with the Organised Vehicle Crime Section of NCIS to support these initiatives nationally.
