VAWI

Violence Against Women Initiative

Part of the CRP to identify the most effective and cost effective approaches to reducing domestic violence, rape and sexual assault by known perpetrators, and to disseminate good practice. 58 projects were funded over two rounds and independent evaluations commissioned to measure impact and effectiveness. www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crime/domesticviolence/

Vehicle Crime Reduction Action Team

Video Identification Parade Electronic Recording

VIPER is a centralised system for preparing video ID parades and supplying them 'down the wire' to remote sites across the country. A central bureau maintains a database of lookalikes of all ages, sex and ethnic backgrounds.

YIP

Youth Inclusion Programme / Project

YIP seeks to reduce offending, truancy and exclusion on disadvantaged neighbourhoods. The projects do this by providing targeted assistance and support to the13-16 year olds at most risk of offending, truancy or exclusion. YJB

Youth Justice Board

Youth Offender Panels

Established by Youth Offending Teams (YOT's) in England and Wales following the introduction of Referral Orders (Legislation: The Youth Justice & Criminal Evidence Act 1999 / Powers of the Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000).
