Campaigns If you spot a particular issue or crime trend emerging in your area, you may be able to get your local paper to run a campaign. When a paper adopts a cause, it opens up the opportunity for more in depth reporting; key messages will be repeated, encouraging people to change their behaviour as a result. When considering a campaign, journalists will look to you for facts, story leads, photographs and other information to keep the momentum of the campaign going. Don’t forget the other publications that reach local people, such as parish and community magazines, as well as the official publications distributed by the police, local authority and other members of your CDRP. Check their copy deadlines and publication dates and consider using them to reach specific audiences with relevant advice and information.
