Australian Institute of Criminology conference papers

The Australian Institute of Criminology, in conjunction with the Crime Prevention Branch of the Commonwealth Government Attorney General's department, held a conference on Crime Prevention in September 2002 and has published many of the papers from the conference on the Internet.

The conference aimed to bring together practitioners, researchers, academics and policy makers from relevant fields to discuss the types of policies and programs that have been implemented on a national, regional or local level. The emphasis was on inter-agency approaches to crime prevention, including measures to reduce opportunities for crime as well as preventing criminality.

The conference themes included early intervention and developmental crime prevention, family violence, partnerships, diversion, interventions, amongst others.

Abstracts are given for all the papers with full versions available to download for 40 of the titles. Although the focus is Australian crime prevention, with some emphasis on indigenous issues, there is much to be learned from Australian experience.

• The challenge of implementing and evaluating programs for perpetrators of domestic violence
