Risk Assessment Management and Audit Systems (RAMAS)

The RAMAS Foundation

Risk Assessment Management and Audit Systems known as RAMAS – was developed with Department of Health funding to provide better protection for the public while improving case planning, treatment and management of people posing risk to themselves or others. The RAMAS Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which brings together Clinical and Forensic Psychologists, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Police and Probation Officers together with voluntary and business organisations for the purpose of bringing science to society, Through Research, Education and Development projects. The RAMAS Foundation is a virtual institute with satellite offices in London (UK), Vancouver (Canada) and Cork (Ireland).

Today, the work of RAMAS has extended to partnerships and projects aimed at improving health and emotional wellbeing across the lifespan. RAMAS believes that doctors, nurses, clinical psychologists and other healthcare professionals will be able to deliver the highest quality care, avoid medical errors, avert unnecessary distress, suffering or deaths when they are able to obtain accurate, complete and timely information concerning patients.

Similarly, patients/service users will be able to participate more fully in their own care management and maintain wellbeing and realise their full potential when they work in partnership with professionals who are in tune with and up to date with their needs.

Since 1996, the RAMAS team has worked on creating multi-disciplinary and inter-agency frameworks and tools aimed at improving quality in mental health care while at the same time reducing risk and increasing safety, for all training is available on local site or at venues in London, Dublin or Vancouver (see www.ramas.co.uk).

Today RAMAS also stands for: Realistic, Achievable, Measurable, Appropriate Strategies for Health and Well Being in Humans.

Current projects include the Safeliving and Lifematters projects (see www.ramas.co.uk).
