In a new initiative, London's black cabs are joining forces with the government to assist women fleeing violent partners.
The scheme aims to provide information to women experiencing domestic violence, as part of a broader awareness-raising drive to tackle domestic crime.
The scheme will initially run for a year and is only being piloted in London. It will include:
Checklists, setting out useful information on domestic violence and cards carrying helpline numbers to be issued to all drivers
325 cabs to carry the logo "Domestic Violence - together we can put an end to it" on tie-up seats.
All new cab drivers to receive an awareness-raising talk as part of their 'final talk' at the end of training
There are almost two million taxi trips a week in London and this campaign hopes to reach 26,000 cab drivers.
If it is successful it will be extended nationally.
