Crime Reduction - Helping to Reduce Crime in Your Area

Physical and social disorder can be extremely distressing and can often lead to more serious crimes. Problems like this require new tools for the police and local councils, such as anti-social behaviour orders, but they also need broader strategies that address all of the problems that may be holding a neighbourhood back. Government departments and agencies at local level are joining up - through initiatives like the New Deal for Communities, youth inclusion schemes, work to tackle truancy and school exclusion, and rooting out race crime - to create the conditions for stable, healthy environments where criminal activity does not thrive.
