Criminal Damage
Tilley Award
Funded by the Home Office Crime Reduction and Community Safety Directorate, the Tilley Awards were established to recognise excellence in crime reduction using problem orientated partnership principles.
The 'Reducing Criminal Damage in Bolton' examining criminal damage by the Be Safe Bolton Strategic Partnership won first place in the 2008 Tilley Awards. Additionally, in the regional awards the BIG Attack on Graffiti re: Criminal damage won first place in the East Midlands and Operation Jacket re: Criminal Damage won first place in the South West.
The Quinton E.S.C.A.P.E. project , which resulted in a 23.2% reduction in criminal damage, was awarded second prize in the 2007 Tilley Awards.
In 2006 a special criminal damage award was made. The winner was Hampshire Constabulary's Operation Mullion which resulted in a 100 per cent reduction in recorded criminal damage and vehicle crime. An interview with the school and Hampshire Constabulary is available on Teachernet.
